Vadi

Ä°stinye Faculty of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture is in Vadi Ä°stanbul

We are starting the new academic year on our new campus, in a new urban area, Vadi Istanbul. We moved to an environment that has a significant importance, with its architectural characteristics and with its location in a newly formed urban area.

Vadi Istanbul is located in -formerly known- Cendere Valley. Today, this is one of the rare urban areas where nature and urban could meet. The region entered the agenda of Istanbul in 1902 with the construction of a modern facility that pumped the water of the springs known as Hamidiye Water, to the city. Water that is coming from 16 different sources was raised to approximately 120 meters above the Levent distribution center. Via the steam pumping station, BeyoÄŸlu and BeÅŸiktaÅŸ regions were provided with quality water.

In the last ten years, the region has witnessed a new construction move. The area that includes Vadi Istanbul Campus, was planned by an international architecture office, Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and the campus buildings were designed by Murat Kader. Aside from its high technical and aesthetic features, the faculty building, is equipped with all necessary facilities of a design and architecture school, including a CNC (digital model production) laboratory, which is only available in very few institutions in Turkey.

All of the studio spaces overlook the valley and forest. These spaces, where design students spend most of their time, will inspire the relationship of design and architecture with ecology, sustainability and the natural environment. On the other hand, the new campus also provides direct access to the commercial facilities, recreation areas and residential areas in the surrounding. Between the urban and the nature, Istinye University Vadi Istanbul Campus offers a contemporary meeting environment.
